A young girl stands by as Pahari Tharu (center in red/blue), 52, a female community health worker, speaks of family planning and pregnancy health to a group of teenaged mothers and child brides in Bhaishahi village, Bardia, Western Nepal, on 29th June 2012. It is not uncommon to find child brides of this girl's age in Nepal. In Bardia, StC works with the district health office to build the capacity of female community health workers who are on the frontline of health service provision like ante-natal and post-natal care, and working together against child marriage and teenage pregnancy especially in rural areas.
